Director of Technical Marketing

We also develop innovative methods to apply our core technologies to reduce overall system power and help reduce the bandwidth burden that comes with the display of HD and UHD video.

The relentless advancement of display technology and explosive growth of video consumption driven by digital delivery systems and mobile applications are increasing the necessity and demand for Video Display Processing technology. To meet this growing demand, we deliver our technology as IP cores, semiconductors, software and custom ASIC solutions. This flexible approach allows our customers to deliver the highest video quality in a multitude of applications and form factors while also providing the ability for end product differentiation. Our primary target markets include smartphones, tablets and digital projection systems.

Overview:

Based at our San Jose headquarters, Pixelworks is seeking a Director of Technical Marketing for its rapidly growing business. With the recent launches of 5G, the promotion of high quality video, including HDR, 1M:1 contrast ratio and color accuracy, has emphasized the need for an improved viewing experience on mobile devices. Our unique, market leading technology is creating various opportunities for us in this market. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and General Manager, this position will be responsible for understanding the detailed technological trends with displays/application processors/overall smartphone systems and effectively working with Pixelworks DSP and engineering teams to ensure our solutions are architected and designed to meet the capabilities of these next generation devices in a low power, cost effective manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with display vendors, AP suppliers, DDIC manufacturers, Google and other relative component suppliers to understand their roadmaps and technical capabilities of their offerings as they relate to Pixelworks’ technology and strategy
  • Combine market, technology and customer requirements to drive the technology direction for Pixelworks’ mobile and OTA businesses
  • Work with the rest of the marketing team to define the product roadmap for Pixelworks’ mobile business
  • Work with product marketing on finalizing MRDs, and with engineering on negotiating PRDs
  • Work with CTO group, DSP team and engineering on defining new technologies to explore and create a longer-term (2 – 4 years) technology roadmap for mobile and OTA
  • Drive strategy to build a successful ecosystem that includes display manufacturers and content providers
  • Understand competitive offerings and how to position against them

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of engineering and product marketing with mobile products
  • BS technical degree required; MS preferred
  • Intimate knowledge of the smartphone market, particularly at the systems level
  • Knowledge of the video streaming market is a big plus
  • Demonstrate good business sense, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Proven success in developing effective relationships with the smartphone ecosystem, particularly with display manufacturers and application processor providers
  • Experience in the visual display market is a plus
